February 21, 2015

On my first patrol of 2015, I patrolled Plymouth Center.  It was snowy but not enough to cause a major storm, lucky for us.  I walked with minimal gear, for I felt it was mostly for pushing cars or helping others in the snow.  All was relatively quiet.  I managed to make a turn near the Old Post Office and went down a street.  A girl in an old-school New England Patriots wool hat walked by.  I was going to head back and turn around, but since she was going in that direction, I continued to walk down so not to arouse suspicion.  A couple of young men looked at me, but I wasn't sure if they were suspicious.  I played indifference so not to over think it.  I walked down North Street.  I passed some adults as they were walking with their heads down and hoods of their jackets up.  I got out of their way, probably not used to the weather, or way too tired for it.  I also walked down Memorial Drive.  I passed a bus stop where IU noticed a piece of cardboard and a bus ticket.  I was going to return it, but I noticed it expired on the 18th, a few days before today's date.  So I discarded the ticket.  I noticed the parking lot at the Chinese Restaurant, "The Sun Dynasty" was relatively blank.  I managed to get back on the path left abandoned by snow, with the drops tasted of salt.
I know it wasn't Boston but I want to let you know something.  I love being a real life super hero and any experience I have is always a great one, ready for action.  I look forward to my next action.  I really do love my job!!!

October 31, 2014

I did a Halloween patrol at Plymouth Center.  I parallel parked at a small store.  I did encounter a few "crazies", however there were no problems and neither started any conflict.  I helped fix a sign that was fallen, knowing the forecast for this weekend.  Since it was Halloween, I saw some people in costumes trick or treating, my favorite was the Iron Man & Black Widow costumes as the couple entered a Mexican restaurant.  I was going to try for the Waterfront, but the road was closed at the turn, real awkward knowing there was a convenience store nearby at the corner.  As the patrol ended I'm starting to get a better hand on night patrols, as I regained a lot of my confidence knowing I'm doing my job well.

Tonight I did my once a week patrol in Plymouth Center.  I parked in a different spot, which was hard because it was a Saturday night there.  I worked with a skullcap for the first time, so I would remain mysterious but not arouse suspicion, which was [perfect in the night time.  I walked briskly so not arouse suspicion and to get a read of my area.  Since it was near Halloween I heard some screams but nothing much, as it was a family getting a laugh.  I didn't arouse suspicion since they were all smiles which was a good thing.  I covered more area than last time, which improved my confidence.  I ended well, and I'm more than ready for next week.

My return was spectacular in its own right.  Patrolling at my time, my day, my situation.  And I didn't fail.  After getting through all the butterflies.  I did Plymouth Center.  I head a siren, but chose not to follow as it chose not to stop.  How can it, it was going to another emergencies and it caught the corner of my eye.  Everyone was inside watching football.  At least I saw my Patriots easily beat the Vikings 30-7.  Anyway, I bright side came when I met a lovely homeless woman.  We talked a little, and she played the song "Maggie MacGee" by Janice Joplin, in which you would almost picture the real one singing.  I couldn't give her anything, And I felt bad, but I gave her a hug.  We had the best thing we ever got from each other, friendship.  As I was walking I felt more and more confident, more and more aware.  I was going to go all the way to the end of the street.  But I didn't want to pass the church there, since it was the scene of my last injury.  So I stopped at the bridal shop and turned around.  Nothing much to report afterward.  A good patrol.   Since I might cover only one sector with chances to advance further., I'll probably do it once a week on different days, to give some randomness.  A good development for the future.

May 6. 2014

To relieve some early morning stress, I did a civilian patrol of Plymouth Center & the Waterfront.  I had my portable sunglasses mask and a sports cuff to keep me inconspicuous.  I walked down as I past Post Office Square, I noticed some kids having fun on their field trip.  The chaperone was hunger.  I didn't say anything at first, knowing where they were heading might have some restaurants that would be of far distance or out of their price range.  As I cornered a street, past a park (which I think is ideal for patrol in later hours to help those who walk or jog on it, to protect them from muggers & rapists), I noticed the same group as on of the girls was dancing.  I said, "Nice moves."  I thought now only as sincere but to make the person feel comfortable.  I also suggested some eateries, like Ziggy's Pebble's, and Mama Mia's.  The chaperone thanked me, but one of the boys left my hand hanging when they did a hi-fiver. Oh well, no harm no foul.  I wish I was in full uniform so I would be there to give them some souvenir shots.  Then again, it's not me.  I was lucky though, as they were doing construction over by Water Street.  As I crossed another street, I also noted construction.,  There was a traffic officer there.  This was when I was luck I was in semi-uniform.  I wasn't even noticed, which I was lucky.  However, sometimes I hate the word lucky, to much into zealousness.  I noticed a paper bag with unknown stuff in it over by a tanning salon.  It may not be suspicious, but I had to tell them (Remember the Boston Marathon bombing last year).  I told the receptionist inside, leaving her company to check whether or not to call the police.  If I did, I would feel they would've made a bigger deal over something small, so I let the business owner near there decide the proper choice.  Overall, a great patrol.

I did a driving surveillance patrol over by Colony Place.  I parked drive forward, looking at the whole area over by Wal-Mart.  I stayed for about five minutes so I won't look suspicious.  I did all around the plaza.  I didn't do the tire place because of the bright, open window.  It would make me the odd man out.  I looked at the area over where Sam's Club used to be.  There was probably a down power line.  I would make the call to 911, but someone like me calling about that in an abandoned area, would raise more questions.  Overall, a great patrol and a learning experience.
